Robur Gas Chillers, Chiller Heaters and Heat Pumps

Robur Air-cooled Gas Absorption Chillers, Chiller-Heaters, and Gas Heat Pumps provide chilled water design flexibility with single/multiple chillers applications and 40-50% energy savings with minimal demand costs attributable to air conditioning.  Paybacks in 7 years are possible on a 20+ year life expectancy investment.

  • Five Ton High Efficiency Unitary Water Chillers (ACF Series)  available in:

    • “Standard”- for Cooling in ambient environments between 40-105 degrees

    • “Commercial”- for demanding year round cooling applications in temperatures between 10 degrees and 100 degrees (ACF-TK Series)

    • “Hi Temperature”- for “tropical” environments- temps between 50-130 degrees (ACF-HT Series)

    • “Refrigeration”  Applications- to supply bromide temperature solution for refrigeration applications (ACF-LB)

    • “Heat Recovery” availability for domestic hot water heating while chiller is operating.(ACF-HR)

  • Five Ton Unitary Chiller Heaters (AYF Series)

    • Two Pipe Configuration- for either cooling or heating using one chilled water pump and expansion tank

    • Four Pipe Configuration- for either cooling, heating, or simultaneous cooling and heating using two water pumps and expansion tanks and separate heating coils on air handlers

  • GAHP-AR- Air Cooled Heat Pump, with up to 129% Seasonal Operating Heating Efficiency, 5 tons cooling and 120,000 Btuh heating capability.  For 2 pipe application (either cooling or heating).  Heating cost savings pay for the summer cooling costs in a 2/3 heating, 1/3 cooling seasonal distribution.

  • GAHP-W Water Cooled Heat Pump, with up to 145% Seasonal Operating Heating Efficiency, five tons and 120,000 Btuh heating capability. For 4 pipe application (cooling, heating, or simultaneous).  For use in geothermal applications, with geothermal load reduced by the gas input.

  • GAHP-A Heat Pump Boiler- For use in applications independent of the cooling consideration.  These high efficiency heat pump boilers are compatible with the heating side of the GAHP-AR, delivering 129% seasonal heating efficiency, plus heat recovery capability for domestic hot water consideration.  The GAHP-A may be coupled to existing boilers to increase their efficiency, or they can be used with other Robur boilers, heat pumps, or chillers.

  • AY Boiler- An outdoor gas boiler compatible to the heating section of the AYF 60-119 chiller heater, this  120,000 Btuh boiler may be used as a stand-alone heating plant for applications that do not have an air conditioning consideration, or they can be combined in tandem for staging and larger applications as desired.

  • RTCF Series- Robur packages any of the ACF Series chillers (ST, TK, HR, HT, LB) on common rails with interconnected piping, wiring and gas connections made to a common header.  Packages available in sizes from 10-25 tons.  These units offer convenient field installation and staging capability with load matching.

  • RTYF Series- Similar to the RTCF Series, but incorporating between one and four AYF 60-119 chiller heaters (or GAHP-AR heat pumps).  Total capacity with heating is 20 tons (4 units).:

Product Advantages:

  1. Robur Chillers use 87% less electricity than comparable compressors, helping to offload demand from electric power grids and reduce dependence upon foreign energy sources for manufacturing electricity.  All Robur equipment utilizes 208/230 V. singe phase electricity, an advantage in applications where excess electricity may be scarce or prohibitive to supply.

  2. Significant Operating Cost Savings with Lower Cost Summer Gas Rates relative to Electricity.  Commercial Applications can virtually eliminate demand charges attributable to air conditioning with economical Single Phase power consumption.  Total operating cost savings of 40-60% may be realized.

  3. Flexible Zoning Capability with chilled water applications- single or multiple chiller, single or multiple coil feasibility.

  4. Air Cooled Design eliminates need for expensive cooling towers, allows equipment to be mounted outdoors, saving valuable interior space and extra maintenance.

  5. Microprocessor Controls precisely monitor and communicate equipment performance parameters and diagnose error codes for proper maintenance and service.

  6. Only three moving parts within the sealed system (two check valves and a solution pump diaphragm) ensuring high and constant efficiency over the extended lifetime of the equipment.  With advanced technology controls and annual maintenance, Robur equipment can last 20-25 years with normal to heavy usage.

  7. Pressurized Water System requires no more maintenance than a typical boiler while allowing for optimal equipment location on the jobsite.

  8. Available Digital Display Controller allows for interior control room monitoring of individual chiller operating performance parameters, plus it can control the performance of up to 16 chillers or chiller heaters on one panel. The DDC may be used to remotely stage equipment operation while monitoring operating hours.

  9. Robur AYF 60-119 chiller heaters and GAHP-W water cooled heat pumps are capable of cooling, heating, or simultaneous cooling and heating applications using either 2-pipe supply/return water loops through a common field supplied water pump and expansion tank, or a 4 pipe supply/return with separate water pumps and expansion tanks for the cooling and heating functions.  The 4 pipe application requires separate cooling and heating coils at each air handler in the system.

  10. Robur’s NEW Gas Absorption Heat Pumps available in Air Cooled (GAHP-AR) and Water Cooled (GAHP-W) Five Ton Unitary models deliver heating side efficiencies in excess of 129% (GAHP-AR) and 145% (GAHP-W) from the “free” exchange of heat energy from renewable energy sources, which complement the high efficiency gas input.  The resultant energy savings help provide “free” cooling in applications where the units are operated 2/3 of the time in the heating mode and 1/3 of the time in the cooling mode.

  11. Even greater efficiencies are available through use of multiple chiller (chiller heater or heat pump) applications where load matching and residual cooling is utilized when zones are still calling after water temperatures have chilled sufficiently for the gas burners to shut down. Robur RTCF or RTYF packaged chillers/chiller heater assemblies are available for sizes up to 25 tons cooling and 20 tons cooling and heating.

  12. Specialty Chillers available for high temperature operation, process cooling, refrigeration, and cooling with heat recovery.

  13. Unique GAHP-A Outdoor Heat Pump Boiler provides outstanding heating efficiency of 129% utilizing heat from renewable energy sources to complement the gas input, with available Heat Recovery for domestic hot water or other applications.  It may be used in modular configuration to increase the overall efficiency with existing boilers or Robur equipment, or may be installed in tandem with one or more additional GAHP-A heat pump boilers.

  14. Efficiency Rebates are currently available from National Grid (Keyspan) on a case-by-case basis, using a $2/therm avoided formula.  A recent Brooklyn application received $860 per unit in efficiency rebates.  Applications in Con Edison’s gas service territory may also be entitled to a similar rebate,

  15. The avoidance of harmful CFC’s in the water circuit, combined with ultra-high efficiencies from Robur heat pumps enable these units to qualify for LEEDS Certification projects and NYSERDA efficiency rebates as “Green Technology” equipment that is environmentally sensitive.    Robur's "Green Techonolgy has significant advantages:
